Television interview - Piers Morgan Uncensored

PIERS MORGAN, HOST: Prime Minister, welcome to Britain.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Good to be with you and great to be in London.

MORGAN: I have a strict rule. I have to confess, normally I don't fraternise with any Australians in the run up to an Ashes series. But I have made an exception for you.

PRIME MINISTER: Well, it's going to be a cracker of a series. And hopefully, we'll go well.

Press conference - Barrow-In-Furness, England

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA: Can I thank Secretary Wallace, who's joined me for this tour of these excellent facilities right here in Barrow. And indeed, it's been an enormous privilege. And I want to thank BAE as well for showing us around these facilities and to thank the workers who've given us a warm welcome and spoken firsthand about the work that they are doing, which, of course, will have implications now due to the AUKUS arrangements for what Australia will be doing.

The Australian Government will commit an additional $65 million towards the planned UTAS Stadium redevelopment in Launceston.

This matches the commitment already made by the Tasmanian Government, and will accelerate the transformation into a hub of economic activity for Tasmania’s north.

The funding injection means stages 1 and 2 are now able to be completed and the project can be enhanced to meet the regions needs for the longer term.

Doorstop interview - Launceston

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Good afternoon, thanks for joining me. It's great to be here in Launceston, to announce that the Federal Labor Government in the Budget on May 9 will have $65 million to match the Tasmanian Government's contribution to upgrade UTAS here. This is about providing world class facilities for sport, but also to attract other events here in Launceston. This ground, I was here, way back, as the Infrastructure Minister more than a decade ago to announce federal funding for the stadium, the grandstands that we see around here.

Macquarie Point to be revitalised with Government Co-investments

Doorstop interview - Hobart

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Well, thanks very much. It's great to be here on this very brisk Hobart morning with Premier Rockliff, with my Ministers, Julie Collins, Catherine King, and Carol Brown, as well as the members of the Premier's team for what is a very exciting announcement. This is Tasmania, here in Hobart's last possible urban waterfront development site. And I said to the Premier as we were walking up here, along what looks like a pretty derelict land that we've walked along the path here, that we didn't need to do this to set us up.

Doorstop interview - Sydney

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: My first act as Prime Minister was, on the 23rd of May last year, to travel to Tokyo for the Quad Leaders meeting. I met with President Biden, Prime Minister Modi and we were hosted by Prime Minister Kishida. That was an important meeting for Australia to work with our very close partners in the region and it was a very positive way for me to begin my Prime Ministership. I am pleased today to announce that Sydney will be the host of the Quad Leaders meeting for 2023 and that meeting will be held here on 24 May 2023.
